For their first Arts Council funded project, Brainchild invited Emily Motto, Ed Haslam and Henry Howe and Jack Dale (who make up Flow Conceptions) to create two original works; the first exhibited at their Brainchild festival, and the second at Art Licks Weekend.
Responding to Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights the team created three interactive installations in the Brainchild woods. In reaction to the Art Licks Weekend theme of ‘Finding Solutions’, they reimagined the piece for the confines of Platform, breaking it apart to form Nexus Space.
Playful hoops frame viewpoints and guide people to tactile glowing orbs which host sensors, triggering sound and light animations. The audiovisual response becomes increasingly complex the more interaction it receives. Viewers can work together to form a collaborative display; a nexus of sound, light and bodies.
The piece also serves as a springboard for a programme of performances and workshops throughout the weekend.
