Charles Danby (b. 1976, UK) and Rob Smith (b. 1976, UK) have been working collaboratively since 2011 to explore new understandings of site in the context of Land Art practices and land use in the heavily post-industrial landscape of the UK. This research-based practice incorporates a materially engaged use of video, photography, and digital technologies alongside a critical investigation of curatorial approaches. The resulting work unsettles the object-based frame of the gallery to present a fluid idea of site that extends beyond a single location, exploring the possibilities of new relationships between human/non-human and site/non-site. Danby studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and is now Senior Lecturer at Northumbria University. Smith studied at The Royal Academy Schools and Kingston University.
