Challenging the traditional format of the themed group exhibition, over the past year the 6 artists have been collaborating to write a short story that formed the groundwork for the show ‘It Was A Dark And Stormy Night’. The exhibition travelled to Castlefield, Manchester & Two Queens, Leicester, each time producing a new incarnation. Much like an exquisite corpse game, the artists took turns in adding a line to a story. From this story the artists created sensational & exaggerated work celebrating farce & lightness that underpins their practices. ‘And so it was, and so it is’, is the culmination of this collaborative work. In the form of a large scale group installation, the artists will be exploring the work created over the duration of this project, interlinking themes & practices to create new narratives. They will be taking over the gallery & its Instagram, submerging all aspects of the Turf’s identity into their overzealous & sensational aesthetic.
