JPEG Crush

event Sunday 2-4pm

Kaspar Ravel, Glitch Self-Portrait

Contextualised by its current exhibition, DKUK, in collaboration with curator Maisie Florence Post, presents a JPEG data-bending workshop with glitch art specialist Kaspar Ravel; to give everyone the skills to manipulate data. Starting from ground zero, Kaspar will invite workshop participants to create their own unique glitch experiences using a hex editor in order to make glitch art. The workshop will also stimulate discussion around the critical dimensions of glitch art and the rise of app art. It will aim to encourage participants to think about how their new skills can be taken forward as a way of creating ownership online by disrupting the technology they use on a day-to-day basis.

This is a free workshop but booking is essential. Attendees will need to bring a laptop that they can work on. JPEG Crush accompanies Smack My Glitch Up – an exhibition at DKUK by Maisie Florence Post.
