The Rebellious Script

exhibition Thursday 6-9pm, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 12-6pm

Geoff Titley / Amanda Lwin, The Rebellious Script, 2017

A two-person exhibition of photographic installation (Geoff Titley) and CNC sculpture (Amanda Lwin). Lwin’s metal objects allude to electronic hardware, financial wizardry, and economic esotericism – creating objects that are both familiar and strange, everyday and incomprehensible. Titley, in turn, visits the natural landscape and offers his interpretation of a technological view through recursive imaging and the seeds of inceptionism. “The Rebellious Script” is a term borrowed from Yuval Harari’s 2011 book Sapiens describing the ‘partial script’ of maths and accountancy. Harari points out that while this incomplete script is unable to describe the full gamut of human interaction, it has nevertheless come to dominate our view of the world. In an almost archaeological way, The Rebellious Script is an attempt both to articulate the monuments created by this worldview, and to unearth fragments of the underlying script associated with these systems.
