rung x Art Licks will feature six artists who contributed to the second issue of rung. Curators Fran Kelly and Isobel Emberson have chosen a group whose work shows the diversity of practices that have gone into making rung magazine. The exhibition will feature artworks, live performance and an open discussion.
Interdependence focuses on what is at the very core of rung. It exists because artists have become dependent on each other. It’s becoming difficult to rely on the support from institutions, galleries or exhibitions spaces. Artists are becoming more reliant on the support from each other, connections and communities. The sector has become interdependent on each other. The show will also feature texts from the artists, responding to the subject of ‘interdependence’ and what it means to them.
rung is a grassroots project that aims to support emerging artists in print and online, using these platforms to provide an alternative ‘gallery’ space. rung is run in conjunction with east bristol contemporary.
