Transitional States is a project initiated by a group of artists brought together through a shared interest in the role of moving image and networks of distribution in light of decreased access to exhibition and studio space. Having met during the LUX critical forum in London, 2018, they are extending their shared concerns through a publishing project utilising their individual practices to translate current works and concerns through the printed page. Transitional States has no defined end point but will attempt to create a few haptic moments in an increasingly immaterial process.

They have made a zine that will be available exclusively at Campbell Works for the Art Licks Weekend to accompany the exhibition.

Tom Crawford works with moving image, painting, print and installation. His video work draws on methods of abstraction, using found and original footage to construct narratives that consider nostalgia and its role in distorting the imaginable future. 

Rosemary Jane Cronin, Artist, educator & accidental writer. Interested in subversion & surface, gender studies & psychoanalysis. Work has been exhibited at ICA, South London Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and the Wallace Collection.

Dan Ward is an artist and writer. Recent screenings and exhibitions include: Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, Haus de Kulturen de Welt, Berlin, La Gaite Lyrique, Paris, and Museum für Fotografie, Berlin. 

Duncan Poulton is a London-based artist working in an expanded form of collage, spanning digital video and image assemblage. Itinerant in nature, his work is currently preoccupied with themes of simulation, copying and circulation. Recent screenings and exhibitions include QUAD, Derby; MIT Museum, Massachusetts; OUTPOST, Norwich; The Wallace Collection, London; Eastside Projects, Birmingham; Czong Institute for Contemporary Art, South Korea; Transmediale, Berlin; Flatpack Festival, Birmingham and Athens Digital Art Festival.

Dee Honeybun is a London based filmmaker and photographer who reinterprets material shot in public spaces as a starting point to develop themes around communication and the screen.

Izzy McEvoy is an artist currently living in London. She has exhibited in group shows at Glassbox, Paris; Podium, Oslo; ICA, London; Camden Arts Centre, London. Upcoming solo show at PS², Belfast.  

Simon Rattigan is an artist living and working in London. He has developed his practice through sculpture, installation and experimental film and video.

Nicholas Smith utilises his practice to investigate the construction of publicness through site and image, specifically focusing on moments of departure and or arrival in society that link history to place-making. He founded Relief Press in 2013. 

Guillaume Vadame’s practice is often about facilitating social situations whereby participants can have an active role in the outcome of the work. These situations are always free and the artist aims to work with a range of different audiences which can coexist within one community.
